It's a gamble

"Out of the 10 bottles of pepsi I have bought, only 2 have
been winners. Is this the 1 in 3 chance that Apple and Pepsi
have been taking about? Heck no."

A 1 in 3 chance of winning does not mean that if you
randomly sample 9 bottles 3 will be winners, simply that
the probability of winning is 0.3333.

As mentioned in the article the probability of winning could
be increased to 1 by tilting the bottle, this may go someway
to explain your less than predicted success;-)
