"Forcing" people to use specific applications is the way its done ...
People have been "forced" to use Microsoft formats and applications for years. Amazing that suddenly when Microsoft is not the chosen vendor people start to howl. Equally amazing that it didn't matter to MS if people were forced as long as they were forced to use MS products. For years, while MS ruled the roost, they have insisted that there should be only one standard and 'they couldn't help it' if it just happened to be theirs. Now, suddenly, they have changed their minds and decided that it is only fair that multiple standards be allowed. Hypocrisy anyone?
