Paris turns 175,000 kids on to open-source key plan
A bit of a wasted effort don't you think? These kids will immediately delete the apps and just use the usb key as a storage device for other things like file transfers. I especially like how the article didn't even name the applications being used. And it won't teach them about "a tool of freedom and mobility between their school, cybercafes and their home or friends' PCs" either. What it will do is hinder their ability to work in the real world. Do you have experience with MS Office? Nope. Oh, thats too bad. Next! At least they had the smarts to stick with Windows on the desktop.
