Softly, where's the advantage?
Even if vista is not your chosen platform, it is beginning to sound like there might be good money to be made supporting it. A frustrated customer needs someone to hold their hand and make nice. A wise player does not put down his or her market.

It's not your view of vista that counts when it comes to making a living, it is your customers view. And if his machine can't run the product,he might be willing to sell the old (cheaply) to someone who will user to put a less intimidating product on it. After all, the customer is the one who will pay for the new machine.
