You literally believe you have to pay Microsoft to have your machine "accepted"? Even if it really isn't eh? Wow that would work out well. I've run the code from cnet on several machines and got back exactly what was expected. You can figure it out for yourself you know, or write your own code to automate it.

Microsoft provides the free upgrade analyzer. Microsoft's published the full requirements - minimum and recommended - for all flavors of Vista. Many sites (such as CNet) have their own flavors. It's just as question of looking in the device manager and seeing what you've got and comparing the lists.
