Upgrade $$ = empty wallet
Thanks for the six points. They are helpful as most reviews are slanted either way. I'm not 100% happy with XP, but it does the job for day-to-day stuff.

Am I p.ssed that DirectX 10 is not being supported in XP to force us to upgrade? Yes.

DO I think buying 2 GB of RAM for an OS is a waste because every other OS (Linux, Mac, even XP etc. only need 512 MB to run well? Yes.

Will I eventually run Vista? Probably since it will get better with age and enough new features and software that XP can't run will "force" me to upgrade.


$200 for Vista + $250 in hardware upgrades just to do what I'm doing right now?
I'll wait for a good deal on Vista before upgrading when SP1 comes out.

PS: And I love how they know there are a lot of fence-sitters that waiting for SP1, so MS is already hyping the SP1 release in 10 months - Vista hasn't been released yet!
I guess $6 billion in development motivates a company.
