... you do not need to add any hardware to the machine you are upgrading. More likely than not, unless you bought it with Vista in mind, you will need to add RAM -- and perhaps a new graphics card and a larger hard drive.

I upgraded my six-year-old Dell Dimension 4100 for the $50 cost of a new 100GB hard drive. But at 866MHz and 512MB it is a VERY LAME machine when running Vista.
