Linux isn't an artefact of a single company,
it's the collaborative effort of a lot of individuals--it can't "crash and burn." The companies that distribute Linux are a different matter. Maybe some of them have closed down or merged, but since the Linux support industry is still fairly small and is still growing, it's not unexpected that the structure of that industry is fairly fluid. But that has nothing to do with the success of Linux itself.

Linux isn't going anywhere--if nothing else, thousands of individuals will go on developing it and using it, just as we've been doing for years.
