Yeh, and look how well that worked for Apple
Oh, yeh, concentrating on the sizzle and ignoring the steak, look how well that worked for Apple. By the time Mac OS 8 came out, late, and with most of the new functionality promised in Copland missing, it was little more than a shinier version of System 7.

That sound familiar, Jim?

Apple had to take it on the chin, and start over from scratch with a UNIX kernel and a new API, before they could break out of their rut. Mac OS 9 was as much a bridge from OS 8 to OS X as anything.
