It's not that XP is "good", it's that Vista is not obviously better.
When Allchin says: "When we did Windows XP, everybody said, 'Oh, ho hum,' and now everyone is saying, 'It's so good, I don't see how Windows Vista is going to blah, blah blah.'" he's missing the point.

I'm not even running XP, I'm running 2000. Once Microsoft got the driver problems that NT4 had worked out, there really wasn't any reason to push any further. The only reason for most people rationally to upgrade from 2000 to XP was Microsoft dropping support for 2000... not any shortcomings in the software itself.
