Is this wise?

Why Tax internet access. Seems kind of pointless.

There is more to gain in not taxing. If a company can provide internet access for less by not having to include a tax then more people can use it. By taxing it you reduce the customer base.

So if business does better with out a tax then more jobs are produced. More jobs means more income tax. So what is better? Collecting income tax or collection a net tax?

Where I live collecting income tax is much higher than a single service tax. Also collecting too much taxes from the worker hinders the economy causing less taxes to be collected in general.

Chances are a net tax would be just an additional tax going to general coffers. Now if the tax money was to be used exclusively for promoting broadband technology that would be a useful tax. Other wise it just another drain on the economy.
