From what I read the purchase of music cd's
...funds the RIAA's lawsuits. So a growing number of people simply refuse to purchase ANY music CD anymore. They feel that buying music is paying to have their friends on the receiving end of a RIAA lawsuit.

It's a heck of a protest if you ask me.
