I find it funny that the king of the closed ecosystem, tries
to deflect the facts. Maybe they feel that if the majority of people
want an iPod, their own business plan won't work. With 800,000
iPods sold last quarter, that in it self is quite a statement. As the
number of iPods increases, the RIAA will have to look at the
installed base. Cutting out millions of customers, is not the way
to increase profits. Microsoft at tis point is only a bystander,
they never get in the game at the beginning. They wait til a
market is established, then leverage their monopoly like
position, to overtake the comeptition. It's a low risk, high profit
solution.
