As far as Apple said, they only get .10$ of the .99$, meaning that record label and musician get the other .89$. I understood this pie distribution was record label's deal "condition" in order to allow Apple to distribute songs. Apple set record very straight that they are not into music business, they just want to push Ipod. Not trying to play devil advocate here, but sales through CD are down (picking up a little, according to report) I'll be not surpised that Record label are the one pulling string to increase their hitted revenue.
