Corporate Wiki's
http:http://my.netscape.com/iwas the best example of what should now be common in the corporate and goverment worlds. It went "maintenance" about month ago after I called attention to the mechanism used for RSS feeds in a comment to a Zdnet article about Microsoft claiming a patent on RSS (what a joke). I have to assume that the taking down of the netscape site for "maintenance" is related to that show case best practice site. Which has been availible since the last Microsoft anti-trust case. If ever there was an example of a technology retarded by monopoly power that /my.netscape.com/ site was it.

Today I testify that my work environment includes an almost identical to http://my.netscape.com/ site that is Web 2.0 Wiki based. The Wiki administrator obtained the code for free. TikiWiki you can google and find several free Wiki code bases.

Corporate and Government Wiki Administrators obsoleted portals (including SharePoint as well as IBM portals) and best I can tell this happend in like 6 months, right before the Time Person of the Year article.

These Wikis have full history of changes and those page changes can be made by any authorized user - just like Wikipedia. The user can have modules relevant to user needs for RSS feeds, lists of favorite URLS, He or she can vote, start up applications and can join forum discussions. Its a turn key deal that makes intranets a snap. A dose of Web 2.0 likly has already been taken by shops not blinded by Microsoft promises. That would include all the Lotus shops and all the Novell shops. Soon , it will include the Citrix shops.
