RE:How so?
Have to agree. Windoze zealots and the masses alike simply don't like having to think a little bit. A couple days to learn is hardly studying. Since I started running Linux I've washed all the M$ trash off of all my hard drives, for a number of reasons.

First and foremost being efficiency, what with the superior Linux kernel and HAL, and OSS being compiled specifically for your hardware and low-level software configuration. Second is support being far more readily available, as it is community-supported. Third, it's free, and by far easier to use.

It was analogized pretty well once, when I heard someone say the following:
In Windoze, if you get an error message, it'll be something to the effect of "some program caused a problem...somewhere. maybe we can recover from it, maybe not." In Linux, if you get an error message, it's more along the lines of "PID X, with executable name Y caused Z error. Here's an error code, a stack trace, and a short list of possible causes and solutions."

Additionally, up and productive in 30 minutes? Yeah, sure. I'll believe that when I see it. First you have to install the OS, which takes well over an hour, sometimes 2+. Then Windoze needs to go through its first-boot configuration. Then you have to install drivers. Then you need to install updates, and God help you if your software vendor made a mistake, because then you've got Windows Genuine Advantage jammed down your throat. Then you have to install your software. You're looking at 6+ hours at the minimum to get up and running. And I'm not sure if anyone running Windoze can ever be considered productive.

Linux, on the other hand...download the ISO, which will normally have fully up-to-date packages or at least close to it. Burn it, configure the installer, pick your software (and maybe drivers, depending on whether or not your distro autoconfigures drivers at install time), then install it all at once. Go through first boot configuration and do some minimal package updates, and you're up and running. Half the time at most.

I reiterate. The problem is laziness.
