Unfortunately,
due to the structure of our solution (a very specific cross platform communication software), it?s not feasible to keep one part of the code proprietary and to open the rest in the same time (but the GUI that has no interest).

Unfortunately too, we develop a solution that does not request support (by design). So, no one is ever going to pay anything for a support they don?t need. We should perhaps develop bugs to convince our customers to pay some premium for support and upgrade wink

For sure, we fortunately don?t have all the ideas in the world, but within our niche market, we?ve been systematically followed by our competitors these last 10 years and not the vice & versa.

And yes, there are already purported competitive products in open source, but to stay polite with the guys who wrote them, I will just say that they were in first grade when we finished MIT!

We already have convinced over 500 of the worldwide 1.000 companies as customers. They have deployed our solution nicely for years and are pretty happy with it. Our next development will be in the extension of the functionality as well as, to reach both the medium corporations and the SOHO market, in the plunge into a new model of free distribution with solely a pay per use as revenue. Read: You have the product on your system installed for free, but you will pay a tiny contribution only when you use it. And this model will also give you the right to free upgrades too.

Then, I think that kind of approach will stay more competitive than any other OSS model we couldadopt where no one would be really able to fix a problem within few hours for free!
