and with all respect, stop to be sarcastic. All along this thread, I?ve not seen yet any ?idea? nor even more any ?criteria to look at? with regard to purported business model that could show a profitable way for a corporation like ours. Far from me the idea to request any kind of advice. But in a democratic debate like this one, I?m expecting from a ?pro? like you some realistic data and numbers based on true and verifiable experiences! Unfortunately, you can?t provide one! We remain profitable by providing ultra competitive solutions (both in term of performances and functionality) at a very low price (that could go under $10 per user for large enterprise license). We also provide solutions that do not request support (by design). So, there is no way for us to get revenue from this approach (support or maintenance). Then, once again, publishing our code would give a tremendous advantage to our competitors who try to catch us for long time but never ever succeeded. And yes, there are some competitive solutions in open source, but none of them can hold a candle to our product, both in term of functionality or in pure performance. I guess the only reason to go to an OSS model for us will be when we?ll decide to retire, just to make a gift to the community but that will be the end of our company since we won?t ever receive any revenue anymore. But I can sleep in peace, it?s not tomorrow that anyone will rebuild our code (over 300 Mb of pure C and assembly).
