But that's not what he said
"There are many "COSTS" associated with starting a business and getting a computer loaded with Windows is, most likely, one of them."

Well, no, he's not right, because that's not what he was saying.

He said, "if you can't afford the MS license, you shouldn't be in business."

The FACT is that it's perfectly feasible for A LOT of people to do business without using Windows at all.

It would NOT be feasible for me, as it currently stands, because the businesses I work with deal in richly-formatted Word, Excel, and Powerpoint docs (not to mention Project files); but then, I'm in technology implementation. If I were a freelance web developer, I could probably get along fine with just Linux and WINE.

For *me*, yes, it is a cost of doing business, and I pay it. But it is *not* a NECESSARY cost, nor is it -- as you and others seem to imply -- a MORALLY RIGHTEOUS cost.

What you and others fail to SEE is how you paint this in moral terms. Sure, you don't say "you're a worthless person if you don't spend the money for MS products", but in your heart of hearts, you believe it: You don't take anyone seriously who tries to get by without MS. That's just plain stupid.

This should not be a moral issue, but you and your ilk paint it as one. What's most annoying about it is that you don't even understand that about yourselves.
