..I can justify spending the money in many other ways rather than upgrading my PC's operating system...

I was merely pointing out that this product costs the same as an XP upgrade so if you were going to get the wallet out...

And if you weren't and you still need to run Windows apps, stick with what you already have.

..By the way, there are no grandchildren in this family..
