Windows == License == $$$$$$$$
You forget the biggest reasons for dropping Windows: cost of licensing, and cost of upgrading. Licensing and upgrading costs money, and if Windows apps can run on the cheaper Linux, why not?

When the next version of Windows comes out, and Micro$oft once again drops support for the current OS, they'll see the price sticker of a full version of Linux in the store is *much* lower than the upgrade version of Windows, they'll see "runs Windows programs!" -- and guess what??

It'll happen eventually. I'm optimistic. Programs like this one and Wine will make it possible. Support for Windows apps is a big barrier, and if it gets knocked down, a *major* reason for not switching will be lost!

If you need to run Windows apps then just use that Windows box you already have running.

Assume == "ass" out of "u" and "me"

Who said the user has a running Windows box?? People buy new software all the time, and if the software will run on Linux, it's entirely possible for a Linux user to buy Microsoft software!
