It's a crutch, but it works
Sometimes a crutch is okay. Instead of running the apps across the network I'd set up a kiosk. If someone has to walk to a workstation for a Windows app, they'll be more inclined to learn the alternative.

Never underestimate the unwillingness of people to walk 15 feet to do something.

It is nice for people who buy Windows for a single app. I use CrossOver for plugins and Photoshop on the wife's machine, but that's it.
