re gpl
all the gpl says ultimatly is that you can use code ive written if you agree to allow everyone touse any code you write thats basedon or uses my code

if you dont want everyone to be abel to use your code you have 2 choices

1. contact me and see if im willing to licence my code to you under different terms (the copyright holder has the right to offer an alternative licencing scheme if they want to)

2. dont use my code and write your own instead

seems fairly simple and fair to me all its doing is providing an alternative means of accessing someone elses work, and a means by which you dont have to pay, if you dont want your code to be open source contact the author of the code you want to use, and offer them some money for the right to use thier work witohut going open source, they might accept, but if they dont thats thier choice, and its their right to refuse to, they own the copyright to thier work so you need thier permission to sue thier work, and you have to abide by any conditions you accept when you do use that work (you only have permission to use code released under the gpl if you accept the conditions in the gpl, if you dont accept thme then your using the code without permission)
