Intelectual property laws exist for a reason.
Usually the ZDNET forums have intelligent comments. The posts I have read appear that you are under the opinion to abolish intellectual property law.

How much sense does that make? A company or individual spends millions of dollars on a design other proprietary process and you want to deny them their rights to this property?

It is this type of thinking that is destroying American economics.

I am sorry, however the real world is not that altruistic, if I develop a cure for cancer I expect to be compensated.

I use this as an extreme example. Hypothetically let's say I spend 2 years and a million dollars to develop a process to increase the aerial density of a magnetic hard rive. Should that technology enter the public domain?
