BayStar: SCO needs new management

Fair is Foul, and Fowl is Fair...or something like that: What's that old line about the Devil having a fair face?

Reading your subject line, I thought I disagreed with you. But on message content, I think you're on the money.

Baystar wants SCO to turn into a pure-licensing-play: They want their "core competency" to be in OWNING LICENSES. Forget about actually selling software; Baystar has recognized (AFAIAC, accurately) that SCO has no future in that area. (Not that they couldn't, in the broad logical sense -- but culturally, they really couldn't, because they don't understand how.)

So, yes, I think what they're looking for is more or less a shift to pure evil: A company that supports itself by licensing technology it never developed.
