Keep Biding your time
The NT Kernel does a pretty good job as it is (in what way is the linux kernel any better?). No reason to ever change it. Nothing stops MS from using linux-developed software above NT (see Services for Unix, Apache on Windows, and Mozilla). If linux software starts becoming so much of an issue, MS could just as easily extend their POSIX subsystem into a linux subsystem.
