You might have a point if...
...it weren't for the REALITY of e.g. the Fedora project. Windows "Longhorn" was announced, when, 2001? Since that time, the Fedora project was born, and has released SIX incremental releases, some of which represent quantum leaps forward.

I cannot believe how "nice 'n' easy" it was to install Fedora Core 6 after rebuilding my server last night.

(And hint: I didn't once have to worry if my "Windows Authentication" might be compromised by wiping the HDs clean for the reinstall).

Hey, I use Windows, but I hardly do it in PREFERENCE to Linux. Only the fact of a handful of applications that are "Windows-only" keeps me feeding that gravy train.
