Microsoft tries to stop Vista piracy monster
Creating this patch is a good thing. Microsoft has worked hard and long on Vista and will not stand to have people use it for free. The programmers spent uncountable hours producing a top notch quality product and they should be compensated for it. What people don't realize is that it costs Microsoft billions of dollars in lost sales because of piracy like this.

So if Microsoft has to release this patch to thwart piracy then I am all for it.

Microsoft tries to stop Vista piracy monster  Loverock Davidson | 12/14/06
Microsoft is not that stupid. They will allow full piracy, at the same time  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Doubtful  Loverock Davidson | 12/14/06
MAC hardware is too expensive. If they can't pirate Windows and MS Office,  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
If Macs are too expensive  Loverock Davidson | 12/14/06
It offers nothing, trying to port existing apps will cost to much  swoopee | 12/14/06
Linux has everthing the common person needs. No need to port applications.  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
RE: Linux has everthing the common person needs.  swoopee | 12/14/06
So Donnieboy  No_Ax_to_Grind | 12/14/06
After the top 10% of power users, people basically want word processing,  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Why would it cost them $50  voska | 12/15/06
Again, in China, Windows does NOT come with PCs at the corner store.  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
What they have is pirated XP with MS Office. If you could prevent that  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Why not Linux?  A.Sinic | 12/15/06
Actually, OpenOffice is available in more languages than MS Office. That is  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Since you bring up offices, what about Corel and Lotus  Boot_Agnostic | 12/19/06
actually  hillman.d@... | 12/18/06
I think they'd just stick with what they have  voska | 12/14/06
The population of China is growing, and systems wear out. For low income  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
If they are buying a PC  No_Ax_to_Grind | 12/14/06
In China, the guy on the corner installs a pirated version of Windows and  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
China  voska | 12/14/06
Sure, they have have some so poor they can not afford the hardware, but  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Windows comes with the hardware  voska | 12/15/06
No, the poor pay much less than $200 for a computer with PIRATED Windows.  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
I can buy a computer here for about $100  voska | 12/20/06
Media Access Control address hardware is to expensive?  b.d.hi | 12/20/06
Ever buy a computer and not use Microsoft on it?  nucrash | 12/14/06
What we're really after  swoopee | 12/14/06
Ummm...  DarbyOhara | 12/14/06
Wrong o'  Linux User 147560 | 12/14/06
Chances are, no desktop, no web for a newbie.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
Yea, I could buy a Mac...  nucrash | 12/15/06
Yes, it is slowley changing, but the selection is very limited, and it is  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Ever buy a vehicle and not use the airbag?  cdgoldin | 12/15/06
It's to do with the warranty (and cheaper for you)  John Zern | 12/15/06
Right, it is a chicken and egg problem. Untill there is Linux demand, they  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Not really.  Graham Fluet | 12/14/06
Ridiculous  DarbyOhara | 12/14/06
I will buy a MacBook Pro real soon  msolgeek | 12/15/06
Could not agree more, I will eventually by MAC hardware.  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Microsoft needs piracy. They will make it easy for pirates to create CDs  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Like I said, "Cash cow".  HypnoToad72 | 12/14/06
You can bet that MS will make sure they can pirate the non-crippled version  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Gee, so why are they stopping it then?  No_Ax_to_Grind | 12/14/06
Microsoft is NOT stopping it. They are making it look like they care, and  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
These doors will remain unlocked during non-business hours.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
That is easy. MS discourages pirace where it helps them and encourages it  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Wow. That makes ALOT of sense now!  John Zern | 12/15/06
No, stop a minute to think, MS makes billions by maintaining the  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Is that your catchphrase for the week?  John Zern | 12/15/06
How can you NOT understand that piracy in China costs Microsoft nothing????  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Since you have single digit IQ, you will never grasp it.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
Medium and large businesses do NOT pirate. The BSA will come a  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Wasn't talking about them.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
We mostly agree, but MS can NOT pack enough features into Office to make  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
Yes they can. You messed up on ratios.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
OpenOffice has all of the editing, formating, that 90% of users need. Those  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
No it doesn't.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
Ok, name the features missing from OpenOffice. I have been using OO for  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
No problem.  osreinstall | 12/15/06
That is pretty weak. You mentioned nothing that 99% of home users need.  DonnieBoy | 12/17/06
You are pretty weak with you denying reality.  osreinstall | 12/17/06
Come on, NAME THE FEATURES. You are dancing around making un-related claims  DonnieBoy | 12/17/06
Meant to post here.  osreinstall | 12/17/06
Speed and compatibility are not features, and "advanced" macros is pretty  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
They are to normal folks  osreinstall | 12/18/06
So, it seems you are admitting that, aside from speed, compatibility, and  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
Not really.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
I am only asking you a feature or two that OpenOffice does not have that is  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
Go away already. I just answered you.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
OO features vs. MSO  Joel R | 12/18/06
OSreinstal appears to have spent too much time re-installing Windows and  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
Donnieboy was beat with a luestick so much he has amnesia.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
Businesses that are smart only evaluate the features, cost,  DonnieBoy | 12/19/06
Smart businesses evaluate everything.  osreinstall | 12/19/06
You won't find one smart business that wants to let vendors disadvantage  DonnieBoy | 12/19/06
Smart vendors beat out the competition  osreinstall | 12/19/06
I just named a few but you aren't listening.  osreinstall | 12/17/06
Actually, secrataries would me more productive with LESS features, NOT more  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
So with Wordpad, I would be a secretary commando.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
The lives of most people do NOT revolve around a generic office suite.  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
You are right but the reasoning is wrong.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
Come on, OpenOffice and MS Office are the same. There are menus, tool bars,  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
No they are not.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
You talk generalities, nothing specific. Sounds like you don't know what  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
I gave you specifics youngster.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
You gave no specifics. You somehow thought that the macros with MS Office  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
Re: You gave no specifics. You somehow thought that the macros with MS...  ken_ballard@... | 12/18/06
Again, another person that gives NO specifics, just general feelings  DonnieBoy | 12/18/06
Re: Again, another person that gives NO specifics, just general feelings  ken_ballard@... | 12/18/06
Yes I did. You just don't recognize them.  osreinstall | 12/18/06
You guys are giving features that are little used, or can be done in other  DonnieBoy | 12/19/06
Not important because you don't use them.  osreinstall | 12/19/06
Right, everybody wants all the features in MS Office. You are trying to say  DonnieBoy | 12/19/06
Yes they do.  osreinstall | 12/19/06
Blame it on the "cash cow".  HypnoToad72 | 12/14/06
Just saw an Apple Laptop for $384  voska | 12/14/06
For that price, I would buy and install Linux!!!  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Good gawd why would you down grade  No_Ax_to_Grind | 12/14/06
Nothing wrong with OSX, but I prefer Linux since it runs on all hardware.  DonnieBoy | 12/14/06
Okay.....  John Zern | 12/15/06
I have never purchased Apple hardware, but if I did, I would not want one  DonnieBoy | 12/15/06
