It's not Linux
The problem still isn't Linux. Your anecdotal basis for criticizing it contradicts plenty of other experience. I am running Apache, Samba and clustering administration tools on Debian. They all installed flawlessly. Same with my other boxes. It's not Linux... you've screwed something up along the way. Time to format...
