The reason that I put the blame on linux in general is because this is a problem that comes up pretty much every time software needs to be installed. I guess in each case the fault lies with the application - they should determine their dependencies and make sure they are easily available. However, if you are going to use linux, then this type of problem is one you had better get used to. So which piece of software is at fault is really irrelevent because at this point in time, these types of difficulties are part of the Linux experience.
