You Get What You Pay For
The point you are making about installing Linux, is true about most OSS: OSS are not tailored to end users like proprietary software. If you try to use OSS for a personal or business application, you often find yourself spending a lot of time and money trying to get it to work for your purposes. When you look at the overall picture, you find that though proprietary software generally cost more up front than OSS, proprietary software is actually less expensive because it allows you to do what you want to do more quickly, directly, completely, and easily. As they say, ?You get what you pay for.?
