well most well known big gun
sorry of the English

Microsoft who will sink ,buy-out ,fud and the rest ... we could also include other potential monopole.(ibm on server)

We can also class as big gun any large group that information media ( tv/internet/ ectectec that from close to far are on the side of capitalist propaganda ( microsoft Fact fud support )

the main idea is to have a open standard that nobody will have a lockout/ kill switch on it so anything that MS produce is out of the question.
Government wanna have a alternative to MS because it give Microsoft a to great power over government soooo......

and as oppose to you i don't see the involvement of government as a bad thing because at least with them will have check and balance and also will have laws that will prevent oppressive monopole to sink/out buy/FUD alternative.

Free software/alternative will strive anyways outside USA influence what ever MS or usa say or do period.

AS oppose to you if its free enterprise it will end up badly for the customer a good dose of check and balance is always in order .
