Microsoft's XML specification is proprietary, and as such, can NEVER be a true open standard. Microsoft will release control of their proprietary format to a committee, so they can modify it at will to keep the competition of their backs.

Secondly, the format of how a file is saved doesn't have a thing to do with what features the application has, or doesn't have. This was the argument used in the Massachusetts argument, which failed.

This is a desperation move by Microsoft to hang on to their crumbling empire. There is no reason that any Office product can't save to the ODF standard. Microsoft can implement this feature easily enough, but they want to keep their cash flow, on the backs of all the locked in users and businesses they currently own.

For you to state that Microsoft is on the side of choice and quality is even below you, Anton.
