You have noticed a number of product launches?
The company is improving the software in expectation of purchase by previous customers. Mr. Ballmer also expected to see growth in new users, especially if China decides to respond to piracy and people buy the software they're using.

Still, you have a point about nationalism. The history of protectionism, more appropriately, shows that countries have been willing to damage business. Seems simple that closing out the world is harmful, but Microsoft would be glad if governments re-accepted its products so often as they retry protectionism.

Most of the world does not detest Microsoft. Some attitudes appear to confirm that prophets (or profits) are not respected in their own (IT) country, but Microsoft is one of the best known and trusted brands in the world.
