No it's not!
It's just sanity cathing up with the software world. You'de expect your car dealer to come to your aid when your car has a design flaw. You would return your coffee machine it it made tea instead of coffee. It's ludicrous that software can be sold without the manufacturer bearing any responsbility for what he's selling. Security flaws in windows have cost buisiness a lot of money, after they already payed a lot of money to use the software in the first place.

OSS is a whole different kind of matter. If I get something for free with a clear warning that he software is provided as is and that there mifgt or might not be problems when using it I make a consious decisiion wether to use it or not. I did not pay anything for it so I have no right to complain. If I hire a programmer and pay him to create a piece of software I'd hold him responsible if the software were to be full of wholes and damaged my buisiness.

It's time the software industry faced the same laws manufacturers of other goods have to.
