You know of course
that one, this article makes no mention of Solaris, it's talking about Java, and two, proprietary code can be used and sold when compiled with GCC and using GLIBC, because GLIBC is distributed with the LGPL. I strongly suspect that the libraries for Java will
be LGPL to allow for proprietary code.

Now if my suspicion is wrong and the libraries aren't released under the LGPL, then you have a legitimate gripe. Also, if Solaris does wind up abandoning the CDDL for GPL, and it does not release the system libraries under the LGPL, then again you have a legitimate gripe. But I don't see that happening, and until we know that's happening then you're panicking over nothing.

I would love to see Sun release Solaris under GPL3, that would be a good  DonnieBoy | 12/05/06
