In the flight simulator community, not being a "gamer" is actually a compliment we don't like to think of the Flight Sim or X-Plane series as just a "game", I was just trying to generalize to make an important point, that while Microsoft for many enthusiasts is the mecca for gaming needs, Vista, XP, games, DX9, DX10, that their activation policy has become extremely strict, overly sensitive to hardware changes/upgrades, unfriendly, and an annoyance (possible future ripoff also?). One enthusiast was so fed up by having to reactivate NINE times in two weeks that he put FSX in the drawer for a later time.
I have friends who have planned a budget of $5,000 US or more for their Flight Simulator X computer after Vista and DX10 are available. And after such enormous expenditures we are still reliant on MS to turn on, and continue to turn on indefinitely a product(s) we paid real money for.
I would never buy a computer off the shelf with OEM Vista, it is not licensed to reactivate an unlimited number of times, I think you'd be allowed one or two upgrades, then you'd have to buy a new Vista license. Completely unacceptible to any type of gamer.
Now, don't laser blast me into oblivion!
