YOU should keep up with the news...
I love arguing with you Anton. You put on blinders. Specifically Birmingham:

http://www.techworld.com/opsys/news/index.cfm?newsid=7459

Further:

International standards body Ecma has established an Office Open XML standard that is free from proprietary measures, Ecma said in a white paper issued this week.

ECMA is a pass-through organization covering only Europe. Read their charter and rules (I have. You by contrast go for newsy simplifications) ECMA takes submissions as fait accomplais. Contrast this with ISO, which I was speaking of (again read their charter and rules), which covers nations spread across the globe, has larger power and influence, and will not simply vet that which is submitted by its member organizations - including ECMA. All submissions are argued.

ECMA was a low hurdle for Microsoft. ISO will be higher. Keep up with the truth behind the news, Anton!

As for the rest. Thank you for confirming everything I said. The projects mentioned, and others, at least for now, continue to move forward - nothing is ever to budget in the short-term Anton: you'd know that if you'd ever worked on a mass migration project. I intuit you haven't. I have. There will likely be more government switchers (many more than Microsoft can manipulate and demean) - and for those governments and contracts that demand ISO compliance? Well Microsoft will be a year late to those parties. How far ahead will they be before Microsoft makes a standards compliant product - compliant even with the standard they propogated - to ship?
