If it does become the distro of choice
it won't be because they are offering something the other distros are not, it will be because there will be the perception that they are offering something the others are not. All the other distros will benefit from the tangible gains that Novell will provide, just as Novell benefits from what all the others provide. But this perceived partnership will sway the uneducated.

Although of course in this case Novell will have an "invented here" advantage when it comes to the actual read/write capabilities to MS-XML, so they have that going for them as well. I don't think that in and of itself will make Novell the distro of choice, but it still is an advantage.
