Ideas need to implemented and proven first?
From what I know of patents, which I consider very little, doesn't the idea have to proven first. Otherwise any sci-fi writer would be rich as it's been shown that ideas from sci-fi writing tend to come to reality in minimum of 7 years. Notice I say sci-fi not sci-fantasy as sci-fi has bases in science. Like Star Trek is Sci-fi where Star Wars is sci-fantasy.

So for example the idea of the transporter could have been patented by the writers of Star Trek and could make it rich of the guy who is transporting a light from one location to another.

This however is not the case. A patent trap is when you have an idea and you implement and prove the idea to get a patent. But instead of bring the patented proven idea to market you quietly sit on it with hopes someone else will come up with the same idea and bring it to market with out checking to see if a patent already exists.

Seems to me that it would be a good idea to patent a new implemented idea where one would find out suddenly that a patent for the implemented idea already exists. I wonder why no one would do this? Maybe the idea is so simple and basic that it shouldn't have been patented in the first place. Judging by the example of the girl patenting swing side ways on a swing this may be the problem. The patent office is giving out patents for things they should be giving patents for.
