Frankly, I find the 906 patent insulting. Aside from the plain obvious of both Embed and Viola precedents, there is also this to consider - what's so special about a freakin' web page? Its just a very specific kind of SGML document - nothing unique enough that someone should be able to essentially claim patent on the object tag.

And document embedding by Doyle was far preceded by Corba, OpenDoc, and OLE examples. He really didn't come up with anything all that new or unique, and should never have been awarded this internet crippling patent.
