.. probably the correct one..
Protection schemes are quite difficult to come up with.. and are ultimately placed in a "hostile" environment. Cracking the protection scheme is easier, or at least it seems that way.

Total lockdown (ie. from hardware up) may seem to be possible.. but it's ultimately "crackable" when the song/movie is converted to analog for human use.
