Most companies seem to be "supporting" MS DRM simply because MS has such a large percentage of the PC market. It's a game of "everyone else is doing it, so we'd better too". Very few distributors are supporting MS DRM exclusively.

There is no way you can secure video or audio from piracy. Content pirates don't care about quality, the lowest common denominator will do, such as videoing a movie in a theatre or capturing the video signal from a TV. You can't stop pirates in this environment.

All that will happen is content providers will end up extending Microsoft's control of multi-media. There will be no added protection and no consumer benefit.
