Will iPod suffer fate of the Mac?

The one (or more) thing to say: Real portability on the software side...

Can't decently get the downloads, no matter what flavor, to work on other portable players without running them through 3rd party convertors. Extra time, energy and cost. The few times I have gone to the on-line sites, I have skipped Apple because of the somewhat cumbersome process.

But Apple might want to reconsider a partnership with Real. Jobs and Apple (computers) are being sued again by the Beatles and Apple Corps for violating the terms of the early 1990s settlement wherein Apple (computers) agreed to stick strictly to computers and stay away from the music business entirely. Looks like a big OOPS to me! This is one of the reasons you can't get the Beatles music catalog for ("legal") download.
