Who says they have to lock anybody out? No one here is looking for another monopoly (believe it or not, I do NOT want MS to die, I only want better products out of them and another option).

Balmer said customers DEMAND that they interoperate with other vendors products. MS's dream of homogenous Windows based computing is its single biggest weakness. Balmer is talking the talk, now can he and the minions walk the walk?

I'm saying they only have to keep THEMSELVES from being locked out. If they can do that and provide better product and services, they remain competitive.

I agree 100%. If MS continues with its "its my Ball" attitude the custonmer's will continue to move farther away from MS technology in planning their futures. Even Balmer admitted that!
