Isn't that how it's always been?
When I install Linux I could not access file on my NTFS partition. Now this isn't reall a big problem unless you are dual booting and I believe they have fixed that problem now anyways. If believe you can now read a file off an NTFS partition not sure about writing to one.

But like I said it's not a problem and Microsoft isn't going to make it so you can't make a network connection to a Linux box, that's would be a killer mistake.
