TripleII, you've changed your argument

Your first argument was that no OEM could sell a computer without paying the Windows tax:
They MUST pay MS for the OS even if they could pre-install Linux by itself, so a PC with Linux ONLY costs the consumer more than buying it with Windows.

No PC sold without an OS, MS must be one of the OSs.
...
If not Dell, list a few others (including yours) and I will call and see if they will sell me a computer without Windows.

Now it seems to have changed from being a complaint about how all OEMs work to how Dell specifically works. Your first point is dismissed by TigerDirect because you save $100 by buying a computer without Windows. All 3 companies disprove your second statement and satisfy the challenge you issued with your third statement.

Apple makes the OS and the computer

I don't care if Apple sells both the hardware and the OS, they sell PCs and they don't include Windows. The Mac example also serves a second purpose to show that this practice isn't uncommon but if you want to dismiss that particular aspect of the Apple argument, that's fine, it wasn't the primary point. Apple is still an OEM that sells PCs that don't pay MS any money for Windows.

The point is that there is choice. You are demanding that Dell work a certain way (and you still conveniently ignore that Dells can be purchased without Windows) when Dell is allowed to work any way they want. Don't want to pay the MS "tax"? Buy a Mac. Buy from TigerDirect. Buy from your local store.
