Invalid Analogy
Apple makes the OS and the computer. Dell does not make the OS, they make (assemble) the computer. It is against the law for company A to ONLY sell to the consumer on the terms that they MUST buy company B's product as well. Company A can make it more expensive, but they can't legally prevent me from purchasing product A without product B.

Also, I know that the smaller OEMs are not locked into the hardware partner golden handcuff agreement. I am talking about Dell, Sony, Toshiba, HP, Leveno. The ones where MS made the license agreement so sweet as a company they jumped at it.

I am still waiting for one of you to tell me Dell was working so hard to be able to avoid the mandatory MS tax when it wanted to sell computers without Windows while in an OEM license agreement with MS after the DOJ settlement?

As for my Windows free laptop, it was only the companies leverage in buying/leasing so many that I was able to force their hand. See, we have a choice telecommuting. The company will purchase the machine for us, or we can use out own and expense it out over 36 months. I would have gone the second route if they refused to send it without Windows. Without that leverage, like I have tried as Joe Consumer, they just tell me no.
