Ok, I can help here!
"Prior Art" while the term "windows" referred to a "window" on the computer, it did not refere to the "operating system". Hince Microsoft was the first to trademark the name "Windows" for an operating system. There are several examples of multiple use words being trademarked in different ways. Hey recent example is the show with Donald Trump! "Your fired", seperate trade marks currently held for as Clothing line, pottery line, book, and the D man is seeking them for casio use.

So Microsoft have the name for use as an "operating system" is not really far from tradermark practice.
