Not ready for prime time
MySQL is a useful package and lets people get some experience with SQL as a language if not as a solution to any real problems. MySQL lacks almost all of the "real" relational database features and is unlikely to ever appear in the TPC charts. If a student is really interested in learning at zero cost, installing the equally free, as in beer, Microsoft Desktop Edition (MSDE) of MSSQL2K is a much more useful exercise.
